This blog post has been the most difficult to write to date. Marissa was such a gift to our family! This little 5 pound 9 ounce bundle of cuteness was one of the most difficult, but one of the most beautiful things that has happened in our lives. When you have a “Marissa Event” in your life, it usually shakes you to the core of who you are and what you believe. You are typically never quite the same, but for me, I don’t want to be my “before Marissa” self. I am so thankful that God choose to bless the Frauhiger and Steffen family with the gift of Marissa!
Marissa Lyn made her appearance into the world on August 8th, 2015. We had known that she was going to have some health complications, but we were uncertain as to what they would be. Marissa was such a sweet and beautiful little baby.
Rather quickly, it became clear that her health complications were worse than any of us had imagined. To sum it up fairly quickly: Marissa needed a trachea, she had no voice, she had 5 surgeries, spent 61 days in the hospital, her diagnoses were uncertain, and her future looked alarming. This little spunky fighter stole our hearts! With each obstacle and hurdle that she faced she did it with fortitude!
Her life was quite the emotional ride for us! It was a crazy mix of trying to do the best we can, yet in faith trusting God. There were SO MANY unknowns with Marissa! Nevertheless, God’s grace was sufficient every step of the way. Thank you to all of you who carried us in prayer! It is so humbling to be on the receiving end of such love.
Today it has been three years since Marissa went to be with Jesus. In ways, it is sad and we miss her, although in numerous aspects we are most blessed. Marissa is enjoying the beauty and joy of Heaven, we have the anticipation of seeing her again, and she left behind some lives that have been forever changed for the better.
We love you Marissa Lyn and can’t wait to see you again!
